Boosting the Entertainment Industry

The Plateau State Government is taking steps to enhance the entertainment industry in Nigeria by constructing a National Film Village in Jos. This film village will serve as a creative hub for emerging talents in the industry, not just in the state but also across Nigeria and beyond. The facility will actively feature state-of-the-art music and movie studios, offering a dynamic platform for Nigerian youths to actively showcase their talents on a global scale.

The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Joshua Laven, recently visited the project sites at Kuru and Mararaba Jama’a communities in the Jos South LGA. He stated that the state has also made arrangements for the construction of Smart City Housing Units to promote sustainable housing developments for people of different income levels.

Developing a State-of-the-Art Film Village

Mr. Laven expressed the government’s vision to create a state-of-the-art film village, the first of its kind in Africa. The renowned musician, Wycliffe Jean, will actively perform at a peace concert and lay the foundation of the Film Village on December 28, 2023. The governor is actively working to transform the perception of Plateau State from merely being known for its civil service to actively establishing itself as a hub for entertainment, peace, and tourism.

Boosting Revenue and Tourism

The imminent completion of the Film Village and Jos Smart City projects is poised to unleash a substantial surge in revenue for the state. These developments will also enhance tourism and put Plateau State in the national and international spotlight. The government envisions Plateau becoming the entertainment headquarters of Africa.

Attracting Foreign Direct Investment

The Commissioner of Lands, Survey, and Town Planning, Peter Gai, emphasized that these projects aim to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and boost the economy.The state government fervently commits to activating the projects within the stipulated timeline, ensuring swift and efficient implementation.

Implementing the Greater Jos Master Plan

Arch. Hart Bankat, the General Manager of Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMBD), expressed satisfaction with the chosen sites for the projects. He stated that these sites align with Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s mandate to implement the greater Jos master plan.
