Lola Mewu’s Guinness Record Painting Attempt

Nigerian artist Lola Mewu is actively trying to surpass the world record for the longest painting marathon. Months ago, she declared that she would attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest hour spent painting. Guinness World Records approved, and Lola began painting at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 28th.

By 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 30th, the artist’s painting marathon had exceeded the 43-hour mark. Lola’s paintings feature nostalgic childhood activities like playing in class, visiting a call center, and looking out the window.

Some paintings have already been auctioned off, fulfilling a Guinness World Record requirement.
Lola aims to defeat the existing record held by Ronald Palmers, who painted continuously for 60 hours in 2013. She is projected to complete the challenge by Tuesday, October 31st.

Lola’s endeavor comes months after Hilda Baci broke the Guinness World Record for cooking for hours, inspiring many Nigerians to try achieving record status.
