Meet the New Deputy Commandant-General
Recently, Shem Obafaiye, a senior officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), achieved a significant milestone by earning a promotion to the position of Deputy Commandant-General. His colleagues, Fasiu Adeyinka and Raji, actively share in this notable accomplishment, having also earned the same prestigious promotion. This achievement marks a momentous milestone for the trio.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the promotion. As the chairman of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Tunji-Ojo took the opportunity to decorate the three new Deputy Commandants-General of the NSCDC.
Rising to Prominence
Obafaiye became well-known in Nigeria after a memorable interview on Channels Television in 2013. During the interview, he faced questions about the NSCDC’s website for public access to information about the agency. His response, “My Oga at the top will reveal the one we are going to use,” went viral, capturing widespread attention.

The interview quickly spread on social media, with DJs creating remixes of the interview and shirts featuring the “Oga at the top” logo being sold online. It was a moment that captured the attention and humor of many people.
A Change in Command
After his time as the NSCDC’s Lagos state commandant, Obafaiye was replaced by Clement Adesuyi from the Oyo State Command. This change in leadership is a normal part of the organization’s operations.
