Emefiele Considered the Worst CBN Governor
A Concerning Report
Kingsley Moghalu, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, recently expressed his views on why Godwin Emefiele is considered the worst governor in the history of the apex bank. Moghalu raised concerns about a report that was made public without a signature or any comments from President Bola Tinubu and his administration.
Emefiele’s Incompetence
Moghalu believes that Emefiele’s incompetence is one of the main reasons why he is considered the worst CBN governor. He points to Emefiele’s poor performance in maintaining the stability of the naira exchange rate and controlling inflation. Additionally, Moghalu criticizes Emefiele for providing “brazen illegal” loans to the government through the Ways and Means lending program.
Illegal Actions
Another reason why Emefiele is considered the worst governor is his “illegal” attempt to run for president while still serving as the CBN governor. This action raised concerns about his ability to fulfill his duties effectively. Moghalu also criticizes Emefiele for mishandling the naira redesign policy in an “incompetent” manner.
A Damaging Legacy
Moghalu concludes that Emefiele’s performance as the CBN governor has been severely damaging. He believes that Emefiele was ill-prepared for the role and lacked integrity. Moghalu has been vocal about his views on Emefiele’s performance, even when others were silent on the matter.
