Teenager Faces Charges for Stealing N2.3m Batteries

A teenager named Adamu Hama has been brought before a court for allegedly stealing 50 cartons of motor batteries worth N2,370,600. Let’s find out more about this case.

The Charges

The police have charged Hama with two counts of conspiracy and stealing. These charges were brought against him by the police.

The Court Appearance

Hama appeared before Magistrate Martins Ewumi at the Tinubu Magistrates’ Court.

The Incident

The prosecutor, Inspector Ajaga Agboko, informed the court that Hama and some others, who are currently on the run, committed the crimes on December 27, 2023. The incident took place at Dosumu Street Idumota, Lagos Island. The stolen property belonged to a person named Muritala Jimoh.

The Offences

According to the prosecutor, Hama’s actions violated Sections 411, 280 (1), and 287 (5) (a) (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The Plea

However, Hama pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

The Bail

Magistrate Ewumi granted Hama bail in the amount of N500,000. He must provide two sureties who can also pay the same amount.

The case has been adjourned until January 16, 2024, for mention.
