What Happened?
The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) is warning its members about a possible nationwide strike. This is in response to the attack and brutalization of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Joe Ajaero, and other labor leaders by people believed to be connected to the Imo State government.

The Attack
Ajaero, NLC, TUC leaders, and journalists were attacked at the NLC secretariat in Owerri, causing injuries, vehicle damage, and theft of phones, money, and ATM cards by suspected government agents during a protest.

Why Were They Protesting?
Labor leaders planned a strike over unpaid salaries, broken agreements, ghost workers, damaged NLC secretariat, low pay, and unpaid gratuity.
