INEC Suspends Elections in 9 Kogi Wards

What Happened?

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stopped the elections in nine out of ten areas in Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi state. This decision was made because there were reports of cheating during the voting process.

What Did INEC Say?

According to Mohammed Kudu Haruna, a National Commissioner and Member of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, the incidents of cheating happened in Adavi, Ajaokuta, Ogori/Magongo, Okehi, and Okene Local Government Areas. What is INEC Doing?

INEC is determined to not reward bad behavior. They have suspended the election in the nine areas in Ogori/Magongo. They are also investigating the incidents in the other areas, and they will announce the outcome and the next steps within the next 24 hours.

What About the People Involved?

INEC is following the trail of the people and materials involved in the cheating. They have a record of all the officials and the election materials given to them. If anyone is found to be involved in cheating, they will face appropriate punishments.
