Appeal Court Moves Tribunal

Relocation for Security Reasons

The President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, has decided to move the Kogi Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal from Lokoja to Abuja. The tribunal will now hold its sittings at the National Judicial Institute on Umar Yar’Adua Way. This venue change is due to security concerns.

Attacks on Tribunal Staff

According to a source at the tribunal, the staff members have been targeted and attacked multiple times in Lokoja. Just last Monday, officials of the tribunal were ambushed on their way to the office. Armed men robbed them and took away important documents, including copies of petitions, personal belongings, official receipts, subpoenas, and official stamps. These incidents have made it difficult for the officials to carry out their work safely.
